Our Racing Team

Racing Team

Our racing team is in its third official year, and we are excited to have Brooks Sports on board as our gear sponsor. Brooks has generously donated shoes and apparel to keep our team looking sharp during races and training.

You may see our team running downtown or on the Eastside, but one thing is for sure, you WILL see us very close to the front pack at local race events.

Our team members come from all walks of life. We have quick men that specialize in shorter races on the track and strong, steady women who have set state age group records.

Look for us soon.  Say "hi!"  We also consider ourselves to be the friendliest racing team in America!

Fleet Feet Greenville/Brooks Sports Race Team

Tim Briles - A Furman graduate, Tim specialized in the 5,000m and the steeplechase. Tim's college PR for the 5000m is 14.26, which would put him in the front of any local pack.  Tim has been putting in some solid mileage this year and will be running some half marathons and potentially a marathon during 2009.

Jeff Gibbs - Jeff ran cross country and track in high school for the local Mauldin Mavericks and, for a time, in college for the Citadel Bulldogs. After swearing off running for almost 10 years, Jeff decided he should start running again or he was going to end up fat and bald. Still skinny, but balding, Jeff enjoys competing in local road races and has managed a few respectable finishes recently at the Spinx Half Marathon (10th), Paris Mountain Trail Race 6k (6th), Greenville News 5k (14th), and Green Valley 8k (3rd). Jeff will run under 17 minutes for the Reedy River 5k this year and aim for a sub 2.50 marathon in December. Jeff and his wife, Mary Hunter, have their hands full with their cute little girl!

Chris Giordanelli - Chris "G-Man" Giordanelli has been involved in endurance athletics for more than a quarter-century. Chris has earned multiple state championship medals and earned the right to compete in the Olympic trials and other international events by reaching 'Category 1' status by the United States Cycling Federation. After a long and successful cycling career, he decided to try some new ventures and and three years ago made the switch to 'multi-sport' racing where he quickly found out that unlike many cyclists, his ability to endure goes beyond the bike.

In the past three years, Chris has competed in dozens of running races, cycling races, duathlons and triathlons encompassing every distance from a 5k run to an Ironman triathlon, and he loves them all.

As a runner, Chris has won the Masters State 10k championships and 20k championships. He has won races at both the 10-mile and half-marathon distances. He focused on the Boston Marathon in 2006 and after qualifying with a very solid time of 2:47, he went to Boston and ran a great 2:42 (188th out of 25,000).

Chris is proud of the fact that at the age of 43, he continues to be competitive amongst those half his age, and he reminds them every chance he gets. Chris is our best 'PR man' as he's so good at getting his name out there. Chris and his wife, Janis, enjoy hiking camping, traveling and riding their tandem bicycle.

Elliott Taylor - Elliott is a graduate of North Greenville College where he competed in cross-country. Elliott won the Green Valley 8k race in 2007 and also the Safe Harbor 8k race the same year.  Elliott's most recent victory came at the resolution run 5k in January 2009. Elliott, a great guy, is also an employee of Fleet Feet Sports Greenville.

Mark Wilson - Mark claims he does not have much history and wants to focus on his future but that's not all true. Mark competed in track and cross-country for Francis Marion College while he also played soccer. Mark is the most dedicated team member as he has been known to run to teammates' houses and drag them from slumber to train. Mark finished 6th place at the Dam Run 5k last year and 2nd in the Colonial Cup 10k. His wife, Amy, and cute daughter Hagen, are very supportive of Mark's ventures. Be sure to ask Mark about losing his shorts!

Jason Bryan - Jason is a recent graduate of Anderson University where he is currently serving as an assistant track coach.  Jason set several PRs during 2008.  He ran a great half-marathon at Kiawah and took a fourth place finish with a low 1.14...Jason, welcome officially to the team!

Steven Pearce - Professor Steven is an exercise science specialist at North Greenville University.  Steven ran track and cross-country at Mars Hill College and will focus on the half-marathon and down this year.  Look for some fast races this fall from Steven!

Richard Osborne - The team's newest member will be a superb ambassador for Fleet Feet Sports.  Richard recently set a marathon PR with a 3.04 at Rocket City.  RTO is also the publisher or 'GO' Magazine.  Welcome to the team!

Matt Prior - Matt is no stranger to the upstate racing scene.  Ask most anyone who races frequently and they will know him.  Look for Matt to be a consistent team performer.  He will fit his training in around his job and family time!

Tessa Taylor - Tessa, our only official female representative, has also been around the racing scene for awhile.  Tessa, a Furman University graduate, participated in cross-country and track there for four years.  She liked it so much that she stayed on as an assistant coach there for some time.  Tessa will be running a range of distances this year and has already proven a worthy training partner!
